The Top Five Antique Jewelry Blogs
May 13, 2017 – Posted in: Jewelry BlogA picture may be worth a thousand words, but words are often still necessary to educate a reader as to what to look for in those beautiful jewelry pictures.
In addition to keeping up and updating our own Vintage Jewelry Blog and Vintage Education Page, we at Estate Diamond Jewelry love to read other jewelry blogs. We feel that it would be impossible to keep up with the market if we didn’t follow the other voices within the industry.
The following are some of the best jewelry blogs for enthusiasts of all levels. These jewelry bloggers are both entertaining and informative.
1. Gem Gossip
Our first pick is Gem Gossip.
Gem Gossip is a fabulous antique jewelry blog that covers everything from trends in celebrity jewelry, antique and period jewelry, and interviews with exclusive designers. Gem Gossip interviewed us at Estate Diamond Jewelry last year and we were happy to meet Danielle and work with her. Their website also covers a vast amount of information related to vintage jewelry. She has truly earned our highest recommendation. Her website and instagram account are fantastic!
We reached out to Danielle to ask her what inspired her to get into the vintage jewelry world. Here is her reply:
“I was born a collector–I get my love for jewelry from my paternal grandma and my obsession with collecting things from my maternal grandma. I took this passion seriously after moving to TN ten years ago, and that’s when I first started Gem Gossip.”
2. Diamonds in the Library
Visit her Website using the link.
Diamonds in the Library is an innovative blog that combines beautiful vintage jewelry together with literature (and their respective books). This unique blog is run by Becky, who has had a professional career in literature and now uses her unique expertise to recommend fabulous reads, as well as fantastic jewelry.
Expect to read a lot about jewelry and expect to learn a lot. Each article is a ball of fun!
We also collaborated with her in the past. Click here to read the article.
We reached out to Becky to ask her what inspired her to get involved with blogging about vintage jewelry. Here is her reply:
“I actually became a jewelry blogger by accident. I’ve been a writer my whole life (I was first published in a magazine at the age of 14) but I never expected to go into social media. Five years ago, I was managing a publication of banking regulations for the Federal government and the creative part of my soul was dying. I wanted a side project that I could get excited about, one that would help me remember that writing could be fun.
I’d already built a bit of a following on Pinterest, where I was tracking down and saving interesting jewelry online. I decided to branch out from there to an actual blog; I didn’t have any career aspirations in this direction at the time, I was just looking for a fun hobby. Loved it so much that I left my day job a little less than three years ago and I’m having the time of my life running Diamonds in the Library as a full-time business.”
3. Vintage Jewelry Girl
Visit her website at Vintage Jewelry Girl
Vintage Jewelry Girl is a delight to read and showcases pieces to swoon over. This antique jewelry blog is also one of the best jewelry blogs for learning about a wide variety of styles and topics, ranging from hand-strung pearls from the Roaring Twenties to Marcasite Art Deco earrings, and everything you can imagine in between.
The blog is updated three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, although it has been a little quieter recently.
4. Sam’s Antique Blog
Although a newer blog, Sam’s Antique Blog offers a diverse array of educational pieces on antique and vintage jewelry. Sam’s articles are both easy to read and packed with little-known facts, which makes for a captivating reading experience.
We reached out to Sam and Terry from Sam’s Antique Blog and asked them what inspired them to get into the vintage jewelry world:
Our inspiration behind Sam’s Antique Blog was to educate the masses on the delight and excitement involved in antique jewelry. We also noticed a learning gap and we decided to write informative articles that would help explain the fundamentals of vintage jewelry.
5. Jewels Du Jour
An antique jewelry blog that almost reaches the level of investigative reporting, Jewels du Jour seek to explore every aspect of the jewelry world, from digging through archives of historic jewelry houses, like Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier, to discovering the Fabergés of modern times, such as the reclusive Joel Arthur Rosenthal.
A very comprehensive rundown of everything associated with jewelry, especially vintage.
